约翰洛克写作竞赛(John Locke Essay Competition)由位于英国牛津的独立教育组织John Locke Institute主办,该组织与牛津、普林斯顿、布朗、白金汉大学等名校教授都有合作。

正如约翰·洛克精神一样,竞赛从极富趣味性和挑战力的写作题目出发,旨在培养参赛者的议论文写作能力,考察参赛者对于不同学科领域独立深刻的见解、广博的认知、清晰的说理能力、批判性的分析思维能力和说服力。

此前参赛者被牛津、剑桥、普林斯顿、哈佛、耶鲁、斯坦福、芝加哥、加州伯克利等名校录取。

比赛时间

所有候选人必须在英国夏令时2025年5月31日报名截止日期之前使用有效的电子邮箱注册参加比赛,不接受在截止日期前未注册的候选人提交的文章。

如果候选人出于某些原因错过了6月30日的提交截止日期,在满足以下两个条件的情况下,可进行延迟提交:

a) 论文必须在2025年7月7日英国夏令时晚上11:59(7天延期限)或 2025年7月21日星期一英国夏令时晚上11:59(21天延长期限)之前提交 ,并且

b) 必须在截止日期错过后的二十四小时内通过信用卡支付25.00英镑(延长7天)或75.00英镑(延长21天)的延迟报名费。

报名开始日期:2025年4月1日

报名截止日期:2025年5月31日,必须在此日期前报名,以便后续提交。

提交截止日期:2025年6月30日

延迟参赛截止日期:2025年7月7日(延长7天)或2025年7月21日(延长21天)

入围通知:2025年7月31日

学术会议:2025年10月3日至5日

颁奖晚宴:2025年10月4日

赛题设置

提供哲学、政治、经济学、历史、心理学、宗教、法律七个领域各3个题目(高中组),低年级组额外提供6个题目。

赛事要求

字数要求:可在不同领域中提交多篇文章,但不得超过2000字(不包括图表、数据表、脚注、参考书目或作者声明)。

奖项设置:

入围者、冠军、一二三等奖获得者均会收到电子证书。

今年一等奖获得者奖金由2000元加码至5000美元,二等奖和三等奖获得者(原来仅有荣誉证书)也获得了相应的奖学金,分别是2000美元和1000美元。
